TO HONOR AND COMMEND NANCY J. GARLAND FOR HER WORK IN THE STATE LEGISLATURE AND HER REPRESENTATION OF THE CITIZENS OF GAHANNA.

WHEREAS, NANCY J. GARLAND served two terms in the Ohio House of Representatives representing the 20th district; and

 

WHEREAS. NANCY J. GARLAND, a dedicated public servant, held regular district office hours, organized local town hall meetings, attended community meetings and visited with local businesses; and

 

WHEREAS, NANCY J. GARLAND sponsored legislation and was instrumental in its passage that would prohibit electronic text based communications while driving as well as removing the limit insurance companies had on prosthetics; and

 

WHEREAS, NANCY J. GARLAND added a provision in the 2009 State Budget to allow school systems to enter private/public partnerships, which allowed the Gahanna Jefferson Public Schools to build Clark Hall; and

 

WHEREAS, NANCY J. GARLAND, sponsored many meaningful pieces of legislation including bills on bullying, creating a small business working capital loan program, making assaults on animal control officers a felony, and that insurers provide coverage of Autism spectrum disorder; and

 

WHEREAS, NANCY J. GARLAND, held a "Coffee With Constituents" monthly at various locations throughout the district and lived up to her declaration of "Your Listening Legislator" by listening and getting answers for those who attended;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That NANCY J. GARLAND  is hereby honored and commended for the great contribution she has made to the Gahanna community.

 

Section 2.  That this resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
