TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH PLAYWORLD MIDSTATES FOR PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT FOR TRAPP PARK; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $38,820; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Trapp Park playground had to be removed because of unsafe conditions and a new playground needs to be installed; and
WHEREAS, a proposal for playground equipment and installation has been received from Playworld Midstates and the Director of Parks & Recreation has recommended that we proceed with them; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this ordinance so that the playground at Trapp Park can be installed and completed by June for the enjoyment of the neighborhood children, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with PLAYWORLD MIDSTATES, 5828 Zarley Street, Suite B, New Albany, Ohio 43054, for purchase and installation of playground equipment for Trapp Park; proposal attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of THIRTY EIGHT THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED TWENTY DOLLARS ($38,820) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account No. 101.431.5596, Parks, Capital Projects/Improvements, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That purchase of the playground equipment will be from the GSA contract, #GS-03F-0075V.
Section 4. That ORD-0001-2012, passed January 2, 2012, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 5. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
