TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH ME COMPANIES FOR ENGINEERING DESIGN OF A 36" STORM SEWER PIPE TO ALLEVIATE FLOODING IN THE AREA OF KAHIKI FOODS; IMPROVEMENT NO. 859; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, in response to 2005 flooding in the area of Kahiki Foods around Claycraft and Morrison Roads the City has identified projects to relieve the potential flooding in various areas; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Engineer has recommended that we proceed with proposal received from ME Companies for engineering design of a new storm sewer in the Kahiki area; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with said engineering so that the flooding problem can be alleviated, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with ME COMPANIES, 635 Brooksedge Blvd., Westerville, Ohio 43081, for engineering design of a new storm sewer pipe to alleviate flooding in the Kahiki Foods area; Improvement No. 859; proposal attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of THIRTY SEVEN THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED EIGHTY THREE DOLLARS ($37,283) was set aside in the 2006 Appropriations to Account No. 631.350.5596, Stormwater Miscellaneous Improvement, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
