WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna has wanted to purchase the Edwards property at 6010 Taylor Road for some time and they are now willing to sell; and

 

WHEREAS, this will help alleviate the drainage problems in the area, and allow for more open space; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with the purchase of this property all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Purchase Agreement with Jack L. & Mabel Y. Edwards, for the purchase of 1.0 acres, 6010 Taylor Road.

 

Section 2.  That the amount of ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($100,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance in the General Fund, to Account No. 101.991.5934, Transfer to Stormwater, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That the amount of ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($100,000) is hereby appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the Storm Sewer Fund, to Account No. 230.350.5447 Storm Sewer Maintenance, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That ORD-1-2001, passed January 2, 2001, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and signature approval by the Mayor.
