TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH KOKOSING CONSTRUCTION FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE MEADOW GREEN CIRCLE SEWER LINING PROJECT; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, bids were opened on September 18, 2008, and the lowest, most responsive, and responsible bidder has been recommended by the Director of Public Service; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable and necessary to effect this contract at the earliest possible date due to the end of the construction season, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor is authorized to enter into contract with KOKOSING CONSTRUCTION, 17531 Waterford Road, Fredericktown, Ohio 43019, for construction of the Meadow Green Circle Sewer Lining Project, in accordance with bid and City specifications.
Section 2. That funding the amount of FORTY THREE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED NINETY NINE DOLLARS ($43,500) was set aside in the 2008 Appropriations to Account No. 662.361.5596, Capital Projects, SSCI, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That second reading of this ordinance is hereby waived.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by he Mayor.
