TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO LEASE AGREEMENT WITH GAHANNA JEFFERSON LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT; THROUGH OPTION PROVISION IN CURRENT LEASE; FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 79 SOUTH HAMILTON ROAD AND KNOWN AS THE LUSTRON HOUSE; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, lease agreement approved by Ordinance 990500, passed on November 15, 1999 provides an option for the renewal of the lease; and
WHEREAS, the initial term of this lease was set at thirty-five months, nine days to coincide with the Hamilton House lease; and
WHEREAS, the Gahanna Jefferson Local School District has notified the City in writing that they wish to exercise this option; and
WHEREAS, the current lease expires on October 9, 2002 and provides for a an option to renew; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this exercise of option of lease agreement at the earliest possible date for the orderly flow of business at the onset of the school year, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Lease Agreement as exercised under option provision in current lease with GAHANNA JEFFERSON LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT, said agreement attached hereto as Exhibit A.
Section 2. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
