WHEREAS, in order to bring our Police Radio Dispatching System up to date it is necessary to provide redundancy to the radio system and install a second radio channel and repeater; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to have this system installed at the earliest date possible, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Contract with R.E.M. Communications, Inc., 2625 Johnstown Road, Columbus, Ohio 43219, for the purchase and installation of a second radio channel and repeater, and to provide redundancy to the Police Radio Dispatching system, in accordance with City specifications. 

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of TWELVE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED FIFTY SEVEN DOLLARS ($12,857) is hereby supplementally  appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the General Fund, to Account No. 101.211.5512, Capital Projects, Equipment Police, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That ORD-0001-2002, passed January 2, 2002, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 4.  That waiver of second reading has been requested.

 

Section 5.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
