TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH THE COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT CORPORATION (CIC) FOR THE YEAR 2008; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna has enacted Code Section 165.02, to authorize a lodging tax for the purpose of expending five percent (5%) of the six percent (6%) of the collected lodging tax for the purpose of encouraging and promoting tourism and visitors to the City of Gahanna; and
WHEREAS, the CIC has agreed to staff, manage and maintain a Convention and Visitors Bureau, for the City of Gahanna; and
WHEREAS, the passage of several prior ordinances allowed the Mayor to enter into an agreement and then extend that agreement with the CIC to establish, staff, manage and maintain a Convention and Visitors Bureau; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Agreement with the Community Improvement Corporation, said Agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That this agreement shall be for the year 2008 and extend to and include January 2, 2009.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
