TO AMEND CHAPTER 131, MAYOR, OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA; TO INCLUDE A SECTION ON THE ADOPTED EMERGENCY OPERATIONS PLAN; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City created the position of Director of Emergency Management in Year 2000 in order to review and update the City's Emergency Operations Plan; and
WHEREAS, said Plan has been presented to Council for adoption and Council wishes to require the maintenance of a current plan; and
WHEREAS, it was felt that the establishment of the plan in code with the requirement that it be kept current would bring this to the forefront; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to provide for this code amendment while the plan is current and it is prudent to make this change in a timely fashion for daily operations in a time of emergency; all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That Chapter 131, Mayor, of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Gahanna is hereby amended in accordance with EXHIBIT A, attached hereto and made a part herein.
Section 2. That existing Chapter 131, Mayor, or any ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, are repealed.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation, and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature of approval by the Mayor.
