TITLE
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING OCTOBER 2022 AS ARTS & HUMANITIES MONTH FOR THE CITY OF GAHANNA
BODY
WHEREAS, the month of October is recognized and celebrated as National Arts & Humanities Month; and
WHEREAS, National Arts & Humanities Month was launched by Americans for the Arts more than 30 years ago as National Arts Week to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities; and
WHEREAS, in 1993, National Arts & Humanities Month was reestablished by Americans for the Arts and national arts partners as a month-long celebration, with the goals of focusing on equitable access to the arts at local, state, and national levels; encouraging individuals, organizations, and diverse communities to participate in the arts; allowing governments and businesses to show their support of the arts; and raising public awareness about the positive impact of the arts and humanities in our communities and lives; and
WHEREAS, National Arts & Humanities Month serves to recognize the importance of arts and culture across the United States; and
WHEREAS, National Arts & Humanities Month is an opportunity to promote the crucial role of the arts and humanities in relation to individual wellbeing, addressing trauma, connecting cultures, highlighting inequities, and making our communities healthier and stronger; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna supports the arts and humanities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council does hereby recognize October 2022 as Arts & Humanities Month for the City of Gahanna.
Section 2. That this Council encourages its residents to partake in the Gahanna arts and humanities through getting involved in local arts efforts and projects and attending the many events held by community organizations.
