TITLE

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO APPLY FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE THROUGH THE LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND FOR THE ACQUISITION AND DEVELOPMENT OF PARKLAND

BODY

 

WHEREAS, the Land and Water Conservation Fund is a federal grant program administered in Ohio by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to provide financial assistance for public outdoor recreation projects, including the acquisition and development of parkland; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna seeks to pursue funding opportunities to support the acquisition and development of parkland for public recreational purposes; and

 

WHEREAS, the Land and Water Conservation Fund provides grant awards of up to $500,000 and requires a 50 percent local match; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant application requires authorization from the governing body to submit an application for financial assistance and acknowledgment of the local matching funds required in the event of an award.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to submit an application to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for financial assistance through the Land and Water Conservation Fund for the acquisition and development of parkland and to execute all documents necessary for the submission of said application.

 

Section 2. That the City of Gahanna hereby acknowledges the 50 percent local matching requirement and agrees to obligate the funds necessary to satisfactorily complete the proposed project and qualify for reimbursement under the terms of the Land and Water Conservation Fund, subject to appropriation by City Council.

 

Section 3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
