TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO PRELIMINARY CONSENT LEGISLATION WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR BRIDGE INSPECTION PROGRAM SERVICES FUNDED BY THE STATE OF OHIO; PID NO. 97103; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, ODOT has determined the need for Bridge Inspection Services, including, but not limited to bridge load calculations, scour assessments, bridge inspections and fracture critical plan development; and
WHEREAS, ODOT is requiring Preliminary Legislation from the City of Gahanna to consent to the bridge inspection services; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to proceed with this legislation as soon as possible to meet ODOT's time frame to begin the bridge inspection in early summer, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Preliminary Consent Legislation with the Ohio Department of Transportation for bridge inspection program services, funded by the State of Ohio; Preliminary legislation attached as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereto and incorporated herein by this reference, this Ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect upon passage by this Council and the signature of approval by the Mayor.
