TITLE
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS - Refuse Escrow from Grant Award
BODY
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna has been awarded a $35,000 from the Community Waste Reduction Grant (CWRG) through the Solid Waste Agency of Central Ohio (SWACO); and
WHEREAS, a 20 percent local match of $7,500 is required; and
WHEREAS, the primary focus of the CWRG is to fund a double smart waste and recycling station to be used to collect trash and recycling; and
WHEREAS, thirty 35-gallon recycling receptacles will be purchased and placed throughout the Creekside Outdoor Refreshment Area (CORA); and
WHEREAS, the CORA generates 1.1 million visitors annually, with over 5,000 recyclable plastic cups sold; and
WHEREAS, the goals of the project include reducing the amount of waste and litter in the CORA, significantly increasing recycling knowledge through signage on receptables, educating the public about the impact that recycling has and the ways they can reduce waste to landfills, and collaborate with consistent messaging throughout central Ohio on recycling.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That funding in the amount of forty-two thousand five hundred dollars ($42,500) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unappropriated, unencumbered balance of the Refuse Escrow Fund (8500) as follows:

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by Council and on date of signature of approval by the Mayor.
