TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO EXTENDED CONTRACT WITH JESS HOWARD ELECTRIC FOR WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY FROM U.S. 62/HAMILTON ROAD INTERSECTION TO CITY HALL; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City wishes to have wireless connectivity from the U.S. 62/Hamilton Road intersection to City Hall; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has recommended we extend the current contract with Jess Howard established by ORD-0098-2005, to add the wireless connectivity from U.S. 62/Hamilton Road intersection to City Hall; and
WHEREAS, this contract would also include upgrading the U.S. 62/Clotts Road intersection to Ethernet along with all Traffic Management Center (TMC) integration costs; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this ordinance due to the impending construction season, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into extended Contract with Jess Howard Electric Company, 6330 Taylor Road, Blacklick, Ohio 43004, for wireless connectivity from U.S. 62/Hamilton Road intersection to City Hall, and to upgrade the U.S. 62/Clotts Road intersection; in accordance with City Specifications.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of FIFTY NINE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS ($59,400) was set aside in the 2006 Appropriations to Account No. 222.331.5541, State Highway, Capital, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
