WHEREAS, ORD-0101-2002, passed June 3, 2002 established salary and benefits for the uniformed ranks of the Gahanna Police Department; and

 

WHEREAS, under the terms of the existing labor agreement, negotiations were undertaken in a timely fashion before the end of the contract; and

 

WHEREAS, it is critical for the orderly flow of business to allow this agreement to be entered into in a timely fashion, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into "Agreement to Request Factfinding Panel; to Equally Split Costs of Factfinding; To Confirm Multi-Unit Bargaining; to Extend Factfinding Timelines; to Continue Terms of the Current Collective Bargaining Agreement; and to Provide For Retroactivity of Certain Economic Items" as stated in EXHIBIT A, attached hereto and made a part herein.

 

Section 2.  That second reading of this ordinance is hereby waived.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and upon date of signature approval by the Mayor.
