TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO NEGOTIATED LABOR AGREEMENT TITLED "AGREEMENT BETWEEN CITY OF GAHANNA AND UNITED STEELWORKERS OF AMERICA, AFL-CIO, JANUARY 2, 2002 TO DECEMBER 2004; TO REPEAL ORDINANCE NO. 990120; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, Legal Counsel for the City, City Administrative Designees, and the United Steelworkers of America, AFL-CIO, have negotiated the pay and benefit package for the classified employees of the City of Gahanna, and have made recommendation to this Council; and

 

WHEREAS, it is desirable to approve such negotiated Contract at the earliest possible date for employee morale, continued protection for the community, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into negotiated Labor Agreement, "AGREEMENT BETWEEN CITY OF GAHANNA AND UNITED STEELWORKERS OF AMERICA, AFL-CIO, JANUARY 2, 2002 - DECEMBER 2004.

 

Section 2.  That the pay and benefits of this Agreement shall be retroactive to January 2, 2002.

 

Section 3.  That Ordinance No. 990120, and any ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on the date of signature approval by the Mayor.
