TO RECOGNIZE THE OAKHAVEN GARDEN CLUB FOR SIXTY YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY OF GAHANNA AND THE COMMUNITY.

WHEREAS, the Oakhaven Garden Club was established in 1956 and is celebrating its 60th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, the Oakhaven Garden Club promotes friendship and encourages the appreciation of horticulture conducive to the well-being of the community; and
WHEREAS, the Oakhaven Garden Club has participated in civic projects to beautify local landscapes including the gardens at Gahanna Lincoln High School and the Gahanna Sanctuary; and
WHEREAS, in 1986 the Oakhaven Garden Club began working at the Gramercy Park garden, they created a 166-foot perennial bed to serve as a Welcome Garden that they have nurtured for 40 years; and
WHEREAS, the Oakhaven Garden Club planted an evergreen tree to celebrate the park’s 30th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, in 2016, the Oakhaven Garden Club began working on gardens around the 1869 one room school house located at Lincoln Elementary; and
WHEREAS, the Oakhaven Garden Club helps the community through active participation; and
WHEREAS, gardening is an activity that anyone in the community can enjoy and Oakhaven Garden Club makes a world of difference in the Gahanna community where people reside and work; and
WHEREAS, the Oakhaven Garden Club has reached a milestone that all members should be very proud; and
WHEREAS, Gahanna values its many service clubs and all that they do for our community and we appreciate everything the Oakhaven Garden Club has done for the City of Gahanna and the community over these last 60 years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council hereby commends the OAKHAVEN GARDEN CLUB for sixty years of service to the City of Gahanna and the community.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
