TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH GBS COMPUTER & COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS; TO REPLACE THE SOFTWARE BEING USED BY THE CLERK OF COURT; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the software being utilized by the Clerk of Court is over 8 years old and is outdated; and
WHEREAS, the Clerk of Court has done a thorough search and determined the GBS software package is one that will work for the Court both now and into the future; and
WHEREAS, money has been appropriated for this purchase; and
WHEREAS, the current system has had spot failings in the last several weeks and it is critical to get the new system in place before a total crash would occur, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into agreement with GBS Computer & Communication Systems, 1035 North Meridian Road, Youngstown Ohio 44509, for the purchase of the GBS Court System, said agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That $30,000 has been appropriated in the 2000 Appropriations to Account Number 229.151.5511, Court Fund Capital, for this purchase.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
