TO REFUND GAHANNA-JEFFERSON PUBLIC SCHOOLS $2,230 PAID IN PERMIT FEES FOR GYM RENOVATIONS WHICH CONSISTED OF REPLACEMENT OF BLEACHERS AT GAHANNA LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL.

WHEREAS, the permit fees for renovating the Gahanna Lincoln High School gym consisting of bleacher replacement were $2,730 and the schools have asked for a discount on the permit fees to help complete the gym renovations within their budget; and
WHEREAS, installation of new bleachers was this renovation and our code classifies the permit fee for the installation of bleachers as commercial alterations, which is based upon a percentage of the total project cost and not the building activity; and
WHEREAS, because of this discrepancy in the code, the Director of Planning & Development has recommended we reduce the permit fee for the schools to $500, and this Council agrees;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the fee for the permit for renovation of the high school gym consisting of bleacher replacement is hereby reduced to $500, and the schools shall receive a refund of $2,230.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of TWO THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED THIRTY DOLLARS ($2,230) will be taken out of the appropriate accounts as dtermined by the Director of Finance to reimburse the schools.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
