TITLE
A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE A THEN AND NOW PURCHASE ORDER UNDER OHIO REVISED CODE 5705.41(D)(1) FOR THE PURPOSE OF STOP LOSS COVERAGE THROUGH SUN LIFE
BODY
WHEREAS, the City became self-insured for medical and prescription drug coverage effective January 1, 2026; and
WHEREAS, as part of this transition, the City purchased stop loss coverage from Sun Life in the amount of one hundred fifty thousand five hundred ninety-one dollars and twelve cents ($150,591.12); and
WHEREAS, due to challenges associated with the transition to self-insurance, funds were not encumbered prior to the purchase of the stop loss coverage from account 902.05.000.5205 - Self Insurance Contract Services; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Finance has certified pursuant to purchase order 26000744 that funds were available then at the time of purchase and are available now at the time of payment, appropriated, collected, or in the process of collection and free from any previous encumbrance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That funding in the amount of one hundred fifty thousand five hundred ninety-one dollars and twelve cents ($150,591.12) has been appropriated and approved pursuant to purchase order 26000744 as certified by the Director of Finance.
Section 2. That the Director of Finance is authorized to make payment in the amount of one hundred fifty thousand five hundred ninety-one dollars and twelve cents ($150,591.12) to Sun Life for stop loss coverage from account 902.05.000.5205 - Self Insurance Contract Services.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature of approval by the Mayor.
