TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH ELITE EXCAVATING CO., FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE TAYLOR ROAD BOOSTER STATION; IMPROVEMENT NO. ST 1003; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $392,914; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, to boost water pressure out in the Industrial Zone it is necessary to build a new water pumping station at the corner of Helmbright and Taylor Roads; and
WHEREAS, bids were opened on July 9, 2014 and the City Engineer and the Director of Public Service are recommending we proceed with Elite Excavating Co., being the lowest most responsible and responsive bid; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this project as soon as possible to be completed before the end of this building season, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, AND STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor is authorized to enter into contract with ELITE EXCAVATING CO., 4500 Snodgrass Road, Mansfield, Ohio 44903, for construction of the Taylor Road Booster Station; Improvement No. ST 1003; bid tabs attached as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of THREE HUNDRED NINETY TWO THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED FOURTEEN DOLLARS ($392,914) is hereby supplementally appropriated from Account No. 652.351.5596, Unappropriated Balance of the Water Capital Projects/Improvements Fund, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That funding in the amount of ONE MILLION SIX HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,650,000) was set aside in the 2014 Appropriations to Account No. 652.351.5596, Water Capital Projects/Improvements, to further cover the herein costs.
