TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER CONTRACT WITH COLUMBUS ASPHALT PAVING, INC. FOR THE OLDE RIDENOUR ROAD WATER MAIN IMPROVEMENT PROJECT; IMPROVEMENT NO. ST 923; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, this project is one that was recommended by the 2003 Water System Optimization plan, and consists of installation of 3,125 lineal feet of 8 inch waterline to provide a loop between Johnstown Road and Chapelfield Road; and
WHEREAS, bids were opened on March 11, 2008 for the Olde Ridenour Road Water Main Improvements, and the Director of Public Service has recommended we proceed with the lowest, most responsive and responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this project immediately due to the impending construction season, and all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor to enter into contract with COLUMBUS ASPHALT PAVING, INC., 1196 Technology Drive, Gahanna, Ohio 43230, for Olde Ridenour Road Water Main Improvements; Improvement No. ST 923; in accordance with City specifications; bid tabs attached as Exhibit A and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of THREE HUNDRED FOUR THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS ($304,400) was set aside in the 2008 Appropriations to Account No. 652.351.5596, WSCI, Capital Projects/Improvements, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
