WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna has enacted Code Section 165.02, to authorize a lodging tax for the purpose of expending five percent (5%) of the six percent (6%) of the collected lodging tax for the purpose of encouraging and promoting tourism and visitors to the City of Gahanna; and
 
WHEREAS, the CIC has relinquished its oversight authority over the Convention and Visitors Bureau and has adopted a strategic plan that focuses upon industrial, economic, civic, commercial, distribution and research development in the city; and
 
WHEREAS, this agreement covers the use of the lodging tax, as reflected in the 2013 appropriations and specifies how the CIC will expend the lodging tax monies to encourage tourism and assist with economic development initiatives for the City of Gahanna; and
 
WHEREAS, it is imperative to pass this legislation at the earliest possible date so that the Agreement can be in place for 2013, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
 
Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Agreement with the Community Improvement Corporation; said Agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.
 
Section 2.  That this agreement shall be for the year 2013 and extend to and include January 2, 2014.
 
Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
