TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH GRAY FOR A WIRELESS TRUCK LIFT FOR THE FLEET FACILITY

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service and Superitendent of Vehicle Maintenance have been evaluating portable lift/hoist systems from different manufacturers and have found one that uses wireless technology eliminating the problem of working around cables; and
WHEREAS, this Gray Model WPLS 160 with 25T-H stand also runs off of direct current instead of three-phase power; and
WHEREAS, Gray is the manufacturer and this is new technology for lifts and they are the sole-supplier; and
WHEREAS, funding for this purchase was included in the 2003 appropriations; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service wishes to purchase this piece of equipment that only Gray can provide and has asked to waive the bid process;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with GRAY, 3501 South Leonard Road, St. Joseph, MO 64502, for a wireless truck lift, model WPLS 160 with 25T-H stands.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of $30,000 was appropriated in the 2003 Appropriations to Account No. 101.512.5512, Garage Capital, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That the bidding process is hereby waived.
Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after signature of approval by the Mayor.
