TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH JESS HOWARD FOR A SIGNAL UPGRADE AT STYGLER AND CHAPELFIELD; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $4,580; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Gahanna Jefferson Schools requested a protected left turn at Stygler and Chapelfield; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has recommended that we proceed with the improvement; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable and necessary to effect this contract at the earliest possible date all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with JESS HOWARD ELECTRIC COMPANY, 6630 Taylor Road, Blacklick, Ohio 43004, for signal upgrade services at Stygler and Chapelfield.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of FOUR THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED EIGHTY DOLLARS ($4,580) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the Street Fund to Account No. 220.330.5512, Capital Projects, Streets, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That ORD-0001-2003, passed January 2, 2003, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 4. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation, and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
