TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 980440, WHICH PROVIDED RATES OF PAY AND BENEFITS FOR UNCLASSIFIED PERSONNEL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA FOR THE PERIOD JANUARY 1, 1998, THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2000, TO PROVIDE FOR THE HIRING OF THE DIRECTOR OF NETWORK OPERATIONS AT MORE THAN THE BOTTOM OF THE RANGE; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City has been without a Director of Network Operations for several months; and

 

WHEREAS, after a long search in the tight job market in the Franklin County area it is the recommendation of the Administration to hire an individual at more than the bottom of the range; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to get a person on board as quickly as possible to provide stability and direction for the Department of Network Operations, and all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That Article II, Pay Ranges, of Ordinance No. 980440, passed November 2, 1998, as amended most recently by ORD-0225-2000, is hereby amended as shown in EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2.  That existing Article II, Pay Ranges, of Ordinance No. 980440 is repealed as of the effective date of this ordinance.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation, and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
