WHEREAS, RICHARD GANDARILLAS, has been involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters since 1986, and is currently a Big Brother to four Little Brothers; and
WHEREAS, RICHARD GANDARILLAS, volunteers on the Program Committee for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Greater Columbus, and is involved in recruitment; and
WHEREAS, RICHARD GANDARILLAS, was instrumental in developing the first bilingual program for Hispanic/Latino students through a link with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio and Nationwide's internal organization of employees called RISA (Raising Interest in Spanish Awareness); and
WHEREAS, RICHARD GANDARILLAS, was chosen Ohio Big Brother of the year in April, and then selected from over 50 Big Brothers of the Year representing each state, to be the National "Big Brother of the Year" for 2002;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council and Administration, on behalf of the citizens of Gahanna, honor and commend RICHARD GANDARILLAS for his selection as National Big Brother of the Year, 2002, and that the City of Gahanna is honored to have him as a part of our great community.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
