TO HONOR JAMES F. McGREGOR, MAYOR, FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF CONTINUOUS DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY

WHEREAS, JAMES F. McGREGOR, was elected as Mayor in November of 1983, and is in the enviable position of being reelected an additional 4 times; and
WHEREAS, JAMES F. McGREGOR, also served the public sector from 1977 through February, 1983 by working with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources with his concluding position being that of Division Chief of the Civilian Conservation Corps; and
WHEREAS, JAMES F. McGREGOR, in his 18 year tenure with the City of Gahanna saw the City double in population; brought the City from default to a Double A-3 bond rating; saw the infrastructure become state of the art through a disciplined budget that invested 35% of income in capital improvements; and saw no increase in taxes; and
WHEREAS, JAMES F. McGREGOR, served the City well as a representative to the Central Ohio Mayors Council since 1984 and having served as President in 1988, 1989, 1992 and 1993; and
WHEREAS, JAMES F. McGREGOR also served on the Columbus and Franklin County Housing Commission, State Jail Advisory Board, Supreme Court Criminal Sentencing Commission, Columbus Metropolitan Area Community Action Organization; Ohio Municipal League Joint Self Insurance Pool Board of Trustees, and the District 3 Public Works Integrating Committee;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That JAMES F. McGREGOR is recognized and commended by this Council and Administration for lending of his time and talent in helping the City, and for exhibiting the qualities of a true statesman in his expertise for planning for the future and gaining a vision and goal for the community.
Section 2. That JAMES F. McGREGOR is wished the best in his role of representing the City of Gahanna, and others, as our 25th District State Representative.
