WHEREAS, ORD-015-2001, passed July 17, 2000, provided the salary and benefit package for the Chief and Deputy Chief of Police of the City of Gahanna through December 31, 2000; and
 
WHEREAS, in order to effect the terms of this ordinance, it is deemed necessary and prudent to declare this legislation emergency for guaranteed continuity for the heads of our police division, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
 
Section 1.  That where not in conflict with the Charter, Ordinances, or lawfully promulgated rules and regulations of the City of Gahanna, the Master Salary Ordinance for Command Officers (Chief and Deputy Chief of Police) of the City of Gahanna, is hereby enacted as noted in EXHIBIT A attached hereto.
 
Section 2.  That the pay and benefits of this ordinance shall be effective January 1, 2001.
 
Section 3. That Ordinance No. ORD-0156-2000 or any ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
 
Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
