TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., FOR ENGINEERING FOR THE DESIGN OF THE HAMILTON ROAD RETENTION BASIN; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, there have been flooding problems in the Gahanna Heights area and a retention basin is being proposed to alleviate the problem; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Engineer has recommended we proceed with EMH&T for this engineering, as they are familiar with the project; and

 

WHEREAS, this will also serve for the Hamilton Road widening and any other future development in the area; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this legislation so that work can begin before the heavy flooding season, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO: 

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with EVANS, MECHWART, HAMBLETON & TILTON, INC., 5500 New Albany Road, Columbus, Ohio 43054, for engineering for the design of the Hamilton Road retention basin; Proposal attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of TWENTY THREE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($23,500) was set aside to Account No. 631.350.5596, Stormwater Capital Projects/Improvements, from Bond Proceeds in accordance with ORD-0097-2007.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
