TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH BENATEC ASSOCIATES INC., FOR PERSONAL SERVICES AS THE CHIEF BUILDING OFFICIAL AT THE RATE OF $51 PER HOUR FOR THE PERIOD BEGINNING APRIL 1, 2002 THROUGH MARCH 31, 2003; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, Benatec Associates, Inc., has provided personal services as Chief Building Official, Class I, Plans Examiner, Class II, Building Inspector, Class III, and Fire Suppression Plan Reviewer.  Class III services shall be only as required and scheduled by the Director of Public Service or his designee, during the term of this contract; and

 

WHEREAS, it is desirable to renew this contract for another year; and

 

WHEREAS, since the previous contract has expired, it is desirable to move forward to effect this authorization as rapidly as possible in order that the business of the Building Division of the City moves smoothly into the forthcoming building season, and for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Personal Services Contract with BENATEC ASSOCIATES, INC., 119 Dillmont Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43235, for the period beginning April 1, 2002 through March 31, 2003, said contract attached to this ordinance as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2. That funding was set aside in the 2002 Appropriations to Account No. 101.344.5246, Contract Plan Review Services, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
