TITLE

AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE CITY OF GAHANNA PARKS & RECREATION COMPREHENSIVE MASTER PLAN

BODY

 

WHEREAS, the City Council previously adopted the Department of Parks & Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan in 2006; and

 

WHEREAS, this plan has guided decisions regarding City policies, programs, operation, maintenance, and capital improvements throughout the years; and

 

WHEREAS, the City, in consultation with Pros Consultants and utilizing extensive community feedback through surveys and a town hall meeting, has updated the Master Plan to include strategies and recommendations for progress within the Parks & Recreation Department for the next 10 years; and

 

WHEREAS, the proposed plan closely aligns with the proposed Capital Improvement Plan (CIP); and

 

WHEREAS, the Parks & Recreation Board has reviewed and recommended to Council approval of the 2023 Comprehensive Parks Master Plan and Executive Summary.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That this Council hereby adopts the Parks & Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan and Executive Summary attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein, as a guide for improving each component of the park system, including parkland, trails, facilities, programs, operations, staffing, financial and capital needs.

 

Section 2. That this Parks & Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan supersedes all previous Parks & Recreation Comprehensive Master Plans.

 

Section 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after signature of approval by the Mayor.
