TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF OHIO, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, FOR SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOLS PROGRAM AGREEMENT; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City has been awarded a Safe Routes to Schools Non-Infrastructure Grant by ODOT and we need to authorize the Mayor to enter into Agreement with ODOT; and
WHEREAS, non-infrastructure grants are administered and coordinated by the Service and Engineering Departments; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to proceed with this funding agreement as soon as possible so that funds can be utilized during this school year, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation, 1980 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223, for Safe Routes to Schools Program Agreement; Agreement attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That the projected total cost for the project is ONE HUNDRED SIX THOUSAND ($106,000) and TWENTY NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($29,000) of that amount is available in Account No. 101.145.5596, Engineering, Capital Projects/Improvements, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
