TO HONOR THE GAHANNA LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND AS THEY PREPARE TO REPRESENT OHIO AT THE NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

WHEREAS, the Gahanna Lincoln High School Marching Band has been selected to represent Ohio at the National Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C., and

 

WHEREAS, the 2000 National Independence Day Parade commemorates the theme of the new Millennium as well as being the Bicentennial of Washington, D.C. becoming our Nation's Capital: and

 

WHEREAS, through this activity, students of Gahanna Lincoln High School will serve the community by bringing positive exposure to Gahanna Lincoln High School, the City of Gahanna, and the State of Ohio, along with displaying positive citizenship and community service; and

 

WHEREAS, Gahanna Lincoln High School will have a dress rehearsal parade on Thursday, June 29th at 7:30 p.m. which will run from Middle School South to Gahanna Lincoln High School; and

 

WHEREAS, music does indeed make the difference in a well-rounded education, and the Gahanna Lincoln High School Marching Band represents one of the finest examples of excellence in music;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Gahanna Lincoln High School Marching Band, under the direction of Director Jeffrey D. Shellhammer, are commended for their excellence in performance and for being invited to participate in the 2000 National Independence Day Parade.

 

Section 2.  That the Gahanna Lincoln High School Marching Band is given heartfelt thanks for their citizenship and community service and is wished success in all future endeavors.

 

Section 3.  That this resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
