WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna has been approved by the Bureau of Workers Compensation to be self insured; and

WHEREAS, the City will need to have an agreement with a Third Party Administrator to assist us with the program, and the Director of Human Resources has recommended we proceed with Sedgwick CMS as they have been very helpful in this process and are aware of all our current claims and processes; and

WHEREAS, other cities have experienced significant savings after becoming self insured and the City would like to have this program in place by March 1, 2011; and

WHEREAS, it is imperative to have this self insured program in place by March 1, 2011, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with SEDGWICK CMS, 6377 Emerald Parkway, Dublin, Ohio 43016, for Third Party Administration of our self insured workers compensation program and state fund claims; Agreement attached as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.

Section 2. That funds in the amount of TWENTY SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($27,000) are hereby transferred from Account No. 101.211.5132, Police, Workers Compensation, to Account No. 101.125.5132, Human Resources, Workers Compensation, to cover the herein cost.

Section 3. That ORD-0001-2011, passed January 3, 2011, is hereby amended to reflect this transfer of funds.

Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and o...
