TITLE
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A FINAL AGREEMENT WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE REHABILITATION OF THE HAMILTON ROAD BRIDGE OVER I-270; WAIVING SECOND READING AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
BODY
WHEREAS, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will be rehabilitating the Hamilton Road bridge over I-270 in the spring of 2024; and
WHEREAS, while the City is partnering with ODOT on the scope of the project, decorative fencing, lighting, and a shared use path consistent with plans for the Big Walnut Trail extension have been included as a 100 percent local cost; and
WHEREAS, ODOT requires the City to return the final legislation and the estimated local match by February 2, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the City’s anticipated cost is expected to be $749,590; and
WHEREAS, in order to meet the ODOT deadline for the project construction terms and funding requirements, the Administration requests that the legislation be passed as an emergency measure necessary for the preservation of public peace, safety, health, and welfare of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to enter into final agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation for the rehabilitation of the Hamilton Road bridge over I-270 (FRA-270-36.94) in accordance with the terms attached hereto as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.
Section 2. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble, the second reading is hereby waived and this Ordinance is declared an emergency and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature of approval by the Mayor.
