AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH MIDSTATES RECREATION FOR PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AT WOODSIDE GREEN PARK, AND DECLARING IT AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Parks & Recreation Director has an inventory of 17 playgrounds throughout the City of Gahanna; and
WHEREAS, based upon a recent inspection, the Department has identified the playground equipment at Woodside Green Park is in need of replacement; and
WHEREAS, pricing is available through the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing agreement; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to proceed with this Ordinance for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with MIDSTATES RECREATION, 1279 Hazelton-Etna Road SW, Pataskala, OH 43062, for purchase and installation of equipment for Woodside Green Park; proposal attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That pursuant to Gahanna City Code Section 135.05(e)(4) competitive bidding is hereby suspended.
Section 3. That, for the reason set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
