TITLE
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING APRIL 2026 AS VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION MONTH IN THE CITY OF GAHANNA AND HONORING THE SERVICE OF COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS, INCLUDING EAGLE SCOUT AIDEN COMBS
BODY
WHEREAS, April is recognized nationally as National Volunteer Month, a time to honor individuals who dedicate their time, energy, and talents in service to others and to strengthen the fabric of our communities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna is built and sustained by "villagers"-individuals who show up for one another and for the community, often performing the unseen, inconvenient, and sometimes difficult physical and emotional labor that true community requires; and
WHEREAS, to "be a villager" is to contribute not for recognition, but out of a shared commitment to the well-being of neighbors, knowing that meaningful community is created through consistent acts of care, service, and presence; and
WHEREAS, volunteers plant seeds for trees whose shade they may never know, investing in a future that will benefit generations to come and ensuring that Gahanna remains a vibrant, welcoming, and resilient community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna is fortunate to be home to countless volunteers, including civic leaders, coaches, mentors, nonprofit advocates, faith-based servants, and members of Scouting organizations, all of whom embody the spirit of service; and
WHEREAS, among those volunteers is Aiden Combs, a dedicated member of Scouting America Troop 317 based in Gahanna, who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to service by earning over 63 merit badges, hiking more than 350 miles, and contributing over 317 hours of service to the community; and
WHEREAS, as part of achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, which is Scouting's highest honor, Aiden completed a service project constructing playground equipment for the St. Luke Lutheran Church preschool, creating a lasting benefit for children and families in our community; and
