AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CIVIL SERVICE RULES & REGULATIONS AS RECOMMENDED BY THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION ON JUNE 8, 2021; WAIVE SECOND READING; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Division of Police and Human Resources Department request changes to the hiring process for Police Officers in order to expand recruitment efforts; and
WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission met on June 8, 2021, to review proposed changes to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations, and voted to recommend those changes to Council for approval; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this legislation in order to begin implementing the new hiring process, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the City of Gahanna Civil Service Rules and Regulations are hereby amended; Rules and Regulations are attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. The second reading is hereby waived.
Section 3. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this Ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
