TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH THE RIGHTER CO., INC., FOR THE WIDENING OF SIDEWALKS ON THE BIG WALNUT BRIDGE, IMPROVEMENT NO. 728; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, bids were opened on July 30, 1999, pursuant to Council authorization, and the best, responsible, and responsive bidder has been recommended by the City Engineer; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire and goal of this Council and Administration to continue the development of the Downtown Creekside Area to the fullest potential, all for the sound fiscal management of the area and for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor is authorized to enter into contract with The Righter Co., Inc, 2424 Harrison Road, Columbus, Ohio 43204-3508, in accordance with bid and City specifications.
Section 2. That to cover the herein costs, funding in the amount of Four Hundred Twenty Nine Thousand Dollars ($429,000) was set aside in the 1999 Appropriations in Account No. 101.343.5511, Capital Projects Development.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
