TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH MAIDEN & JENKINS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE JAMES ROAD BRIDGE; IMPROVEMENT NO. 819; TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $16,035; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, bids were opened July 25, 2003, and the lowest, most responsive, and responsible bidder has been recommended by the Director of Public Service; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable and necessary to effect this contract at the earliest possible date due to the construction season, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor is authorized to enter into contract with MAIDEN & JENKINS, 14820 Kimberly Road, P.O. Box 268, Nelsonville, Ohio 45764, for construction of the James Road bridge, Improvement No. 819, in accordance with bid and City specifications.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($100,000) was set aside in the 2003 Appropriations to Account No. 231.330.5541, County Permissive, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That funding in the amount of EIGHTY SEVEN THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED SIXTY FIVE DOLLARS ($87,965) was set aside in the 2003 Appropriations to Account No. 101.145.5541, Capital Projects, Streets, to cover the herein costs.
Section 4. That funding in the amount of SIXTEEN THOUSAND THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS ($16,035) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the WSCI Fund to Account No. 652.351.5596, Miscellaneous Water Improvements, to cover the herein costs.
Section 5. That ORD-0001-2003, passed January 2, 2003, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
