Body
WHEREAS, with the adoption of the new Civil Service Rules and Regulations effective July 21, 2010 a problem has arisen in that certain rules are in effect now that were not in effect when the first police officer test was given May 22, 2010; and

WHEREAS, to remedy this and to keep matters fair and even for all candidates taking the police officer tests in 2010 it is necessary to continue to operate under Chapter 17 of the Rules and Regulations dated September 6, 2002 and amended by ORD-0167-2005; and

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this ordinance as the next written police officer test is scheduled for September 11, 2010 and this test must operate under the same rules and regulations as the May 22, 2010 test, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1.  That the police officer written and physical fitness tests scheduled for September 11, 2010 and October 2, 2010, respectively, shall be conducted per the terms of Rule 17 as existed prior to the enactment of ORD-0113-2010; former Rule 17 attached as EXHIBIT A.

Section 2.  That Rule 15 as enacted by ORD-0113-2010 shall be in full force and effect, effective November 15, 2010.

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
