WHEREAS, the City participates in the Central Ohio Health Care Consortium to provide health insurance at a lower cost than we would be able to achieve on our own; and
WHEREAS, in 2010 and 2011, the Consortium experienced a severe shortfall between premiums billed to the members and claims paid to providers; and
WHEREAS, the City has received an invoice based on an assessment that is provided for in accordance with our contract; and
WHEREAS, the terms of the Joint Self-Funding Agreement levies the assessment divided among member entities based on our proportion of premiums billed during the 2010 and 2011 period; and
WHEREAS, a supplemental appropriation is required in order to be able to pay the invoice received;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That funding in the amount of ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED THIRTY DOLLARS ($170,130) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of several funds to the accounts listed on EXHIBIT A attached hereto and made a part hereof.
Section 2. That ORD-0001-2012, passed January 2, 2012, is hereby amended to reflect these supplemental appropriations.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
