TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH RUMPKE OF OHIO, INC., FOR RESIDENTIAL REFUSE, RECYCLING & YARD WASTE COLLECTION IN THE CITY OF GAHANNA; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, bids were opened November 12, 1999, and the lowest, most responsive, and responsible, bidder has been recommended by the Director of Public Service; and

 

WHEREAS, it is desirable and necessary to do effect this contract at the earliest possible date in order that these important services are available by January 1, 2000, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Contract with RUMPKE OF OHIO, INC., 10795 HUGHES ROAD, CINCINNATI, OHIO 45251, for collection of residential refuse, recycling, and yard waste in the City of Gahanna, in accordance with bid and City specifications.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of One Million One hundred Fifty Thousand Seven Hundred Thirty One Dollars ($1,150,731) has been set aside to Account No. 850.345.5441, Refuse Escrow, to pay the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and upon the date of signature approval by the Mayor.
