TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH THE CITY OF COLUMBUS FOR WATER FOR A PERIOD OF TWENTY YEARS, SUBJECT TO THE CONDITIONS DESCRIBED IN THE CONTRACT; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, extensive meetings have been held with the City of Columbus in order to effect a new Contract for water supply for the City of Gahanna, and the Director of Public has made recommendation to proceed; and

 

WHEREAS, since the City has been operating without a contract, it is important to proceed with this contract at the earliest possible date to ensure the continuous flow of water to our residents, and for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into "Contract Between the City of Columbus, Ohio, and The City of Gahanna, said Contract attached to this ordinance as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
