TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 980440, THE ORDINANCE FOR SALARIES AND BENEFITS FOR UNCLASSIFIED PERSONNEL, TO DECREASE VACATION ACCRUAL FOR EMPLOYEES OF 20 YEARS OR MORE OF SERVICE, SAID DECREASE TO BE EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2000; TO WAIVE SECOND READING; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 980440, passed November 2, 1998, retroactive to November 1, 1998; and
WHEREAS, said ordinance for unclassified personnel activated additional vacation accrual of 240 hours or 30 days for unclassified employees with service of 20 years or more; and
WHEREAS, this vacation accrual increase is now deemed by this Council to be defective and it is, therefore, necessary to pass correcting legislation to be effective by January 1, 2000, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That Article VIII, Vacation Leave, of Ordinance No. 980440, passed November 18, 1998, is hereby amended as shown in EXHIBIT A, attached hereto and made a part herein.
Section 2. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and upon date of signature approval by the Mayor.
