TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH KEY CHRYSLER, FOR THE PURCHASE OF TEN REPLACEMENT POLICE CRUISERS FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OFF THE HAMILTON COUNTY COOPERATIVE PURCHASING AGREEMENT; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, the Police Department has not been able to replace cruisers for several years due to budgetary constraints; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department is requesting the purchase of ten replacement police cruisers in order to retire some of their aging fleet; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 135.05(e)(5) of the Codified Ordinances the City can purchase the ten 2012 Dodge Charger Police Specials from the Hamilton County Cooperative Purchasing Agreement, Number ITB059-11; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to purchase these vehicles as quickly as possible in order to continue to provide our high quality of service; and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Purchase Agreement with KEY CHRYSLER, 2020 North Detroit Street, Xenia, OH 45385, for the purchase of ten replacement police cruisers from the Hamilton County Cooperative Purchasing Agreement, Number ITB059-11.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of TWO HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($250,000) has been appropriated by ORD-0075-2012 to Account No. 101.211.5515, Police Vehicle Replacement Program, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That ORD-0001-2012, passed January 2, 2012, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
