WHEREAS, tile in the police station jail cell area is coming loose and chipping off; and

 

WHEREAS, there is concern that the tile could become a tripping hazard, or be pulled up and used as a weapon by a prisoner; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this project, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with VARIETY FLOORS, 2982 Helena Drive, Carroll, Ohio 43112, for the purchase and installation of new tile for the police jail cell area, in accordance with City specifications.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of SEVENTEEN HUNDRED FOURTEEN DOLLARS ($l,714) is available from Account No. 101.211.5512, Police Capital, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3.  That waiver of second reading has been requested.

 

Section 4.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
