TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH STATEWIDE FORD LINCOLN MERCURY, FOR THE PURCHASE OF FIVE POLICE CRUISERS FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OFF THE STATE BID LIST; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, new police cruisers are needed for the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the City can access the State Bid list for the purchase;
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this purchase so that new cruisers can be equipped and ready to go out on the road as soon as possible, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into purchase agreement with STATEWIDE FORD LINCOLN MERCURY, 1108 West Main Street, Van Wert, Ohio 45891, for the purchase of five police cruisers.
Section 2. That this purchase is being made under State Contract #OT909004.
Section 3. That funding in the amount of ONE HUNDRED THIRTY ONE THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED NINETY FIVE DOLLARS ($131,695) was set aside in the 2006 Appropriations to account number 101.211.5512, Police, Capital Projects/Equipment, to cover the herein costs.
Section 4. That, for the reasons set aside in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
