TO HONOR AND COMMEND GREGG MORRIS FOR YEARS OF SERVICE AS SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS FOR THE GAHANNA-JEFFERSON SCHOOL DISTRICT.

WHEREAS, GREGG MORRIS has spent 33 years as a superintendent of schools in four school districts; and
 
WHEREAS, GREGG MORRIS came to Gahanna Jefferson Public Schools in 1996 and has served as superintendent for 14 years; and
 
WHEREAS, GREGG MORRIS is distinctive in his ability to work with diverse groups, developing teams and building strong relationships between teachers and administrators, school district and parents, and partnerships with city governments and businesses; and
 
WHEREAS, shortly after coming to Gahanna, GREGG MORRIS directed the district in hosting a cultural speaker series designed to increase understanding of different cultures and diversity, and diversity has become one of Gahanna's key strengths and is a great source of pride; and  
 
WHEREAS, GREGG MORRIS was instrumental in helping the district to realize fiscal cost-savings by working with the City of Gahanna for joint transportation and fueling costs, and tax revenue sharing agreements for city approved tax abatements; and
 
WHEREAS, GREGG MORRIS was recently recognized as the 2010 Ohio Superintendent of the Year by the Buckeye Association of School Administrators; and  
 
WHEREAS, GREGG MORRIS will be greatly missed by all who have had the chance to work with him;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
 
Section 1.  That this Council hereby honors and commends GREGG MORRIS for his exemplary guidance of the Gahanna Jefferson School District for the last 14 years and wishes him well in all future endeavors.
 
Section 2.  That this resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
